When it comes to brand photography, choosing the right location is almost as important as choosing the right photographer. Your location can help you tell your story, communicate your brand values and incorporate your brand colours. Here are some pointers that can help you come up with the right location for your brand shoot.
Think about your work day

When picking a location, a good place to start is to think about where you spend the majority of your work day. Is it an office, your home, a coffee shop or a studio? Taking pictures in your natural work environment can help create some great Behind The Scenes content and tell your story whilst also making you look and feel more comfortable and natural.
Define your brand values, positioning and personality

Where is your brand positioned, what are your brand values and how would you describe your brand’s personality? A bold and fun brand might mean a colourful backdrop, whilst a time-less, high-end brand could benefit from more traditional and muted back drops.
What are your brand colours? What look and feel are you after?

The location you choose should ideally complement your brand colours and support the look and feel you’re looking to achieve. Be careful of colour clashing. Too many colours can distract from what you’re trying to communicate through your photography.
Consider your ideal customer

Ultimately, your photos should attract your ideal customer. Defining who your ideal customers are, where you can find them and what their interests are can give you some ideas on which locations will work best for your shoot.
